"Most barre-based classes use a combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines like yoga and Pilates. The barre is used as a prop to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles) combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements." Also, don't be surprised if your class incorporates light handheld weights to bring the burn during all those reps, as well as mats for targeted core work.
SLOW FLOW - Vinyasa Yoga is a form of yoga that links the breath, movement, and poses together. Slowing down the flow can help maintain control of the breath, build determination, and intensify the yoga practice. It is suitable to all skill levels as practitioners can modify and advance the postures as needed within the practice. Chill Vibe.
STRENGTH & STABILITY - This class is a balance of both strength, stretching, conditioning, as well as a slow flow vinyasa. Allow the body to gently wake up while building heat, find your balance, & take up space; sometimes with the use of small weights, resistance bands and/or props. Leave it all on the mat, relax in final savasana (resting pose), and continue on with your weekend feeling invigorated. Vibe.
YIN - *NOTE* This class is 60 minutes long, and may possibly run up to 75 minutes. Unlike our Vinyasa (yang) practice, this cooler slower style of yoga is a series of floor postures; using props and often times the wall for support. These poses are held for an extended period of time, usually between 2-5 minutes releasing built up tension and stress carried and collected around the joints, allowing for appropriate stretching of connective tissue. Yin is a potently mindful practice bringing space and exploration into the subtle body. Yin is a fantastic practice to balance with your regular yoga flow or other physical activities, and it is suitable for all abilities. Super Chill Vibe.
